EFQM Model
The European Quality Foundation Model, previously know
as the Business Excellence Model started life in 1989 when
several European companies came together to produce a quality
initiative. It is now in use by over 11,000 organizations
across Europe and embodies the principles of Total
Quality Management.
It is operated by the Foundation for Quality Management
based in Brussels and awards prizes for excellence in organizations
that have applied for, and are assessed to have met, the
standard. Excellence awards are also granted by the British
Quality Foundation (BQF) and its regional UK bodies. The
awards are equally applicable in 'for-profit' and 'not-for-profit'
organizations e.g. a school in the south of England recently
won an award.
The principle, represented in the model below, require that
all parts of the organization act together for the benefit
of all stakeholders.
